Samsung 830 Series SSD, 2.5x Faster than the Predecessor
After the 470 Series SSDs, South Korean manufacturer, Samsung is offering a better, faster SSD series in its home market, called the Samsung 830 Series. The new Samsung 830 Series SSD is claimed to be 2.5 times faster than the predecessor. The Samsung 830 Series SSD is made out of brushed metal enclosure, which gives it a stunning look. It’s a 2.5-inch from factor SSD having just 7mm thickness.
The faster 830 series SSD utilized SATA 3 (6Gb/s) interface, and backward compatible with SATA 2, SATA. This puts the 830-series in the same league as SandForce’s second-gen controllers. According to its storage capacities, the new Samsung 830 Series SSD is available in four models such as; 64GB, 128GB, 256GB, 512GB. The new SSD delivers sequential read and write speeds up to 520MB/s and 400MB/s respectively. The new SSD from Samsung is compatible with Windows, Mac, and Linux OS. There are also an upgrade kit, that’s including Norton Ghost 15.0 software and various cables for an easy operation.
Reportedly, the 128GB Samsung 830 Series SSD is priced at around $250, but there is no word on price for the full product line. Samsung 830 Series SSD prices should be similar to the 470-series.
