The guys over DigiTimes have reported about a rumor on Friday that, Apple is planning for a new 7.85-inch mini iPad which said to be reached you by the fourth quarter of 2012. But the period very closer with when Apple will release its strong rumored iPad 3 i.e. at the end of the first quarter. Reportedly the tablet PCs are expected to reach 60 million units of global shipments in 2011, in which 70% will be Apple’s iPads. So at an object to fulfill the market demand as well as market expectations, the company should release its next-generation iPad by the end first-quarter 2012. But this is also seems like a strong rumor which is very close to true.
It’s also needed to stay in today’s increasing market competition with mobile venders like Samsung, HTC, etc, Apple should release products what people want. So the company is planning for a 7.85-inch mini iPad to compete with 7-inch Kindle Fire from Amazon, and other large-size smartphones (Galaxy Note). It’s also expected that, the new 7.85-ich mini iPad will be more affordable than the iPad 2, while maintaining the same specs and features.
A news came before that, LG Display and AU Optronics have sent samples of a 7.85-ich screen with 1024 x 768 pixels resolution to Apple. In addition to purchasing 7.85-inch panels from LG Display, the company also go for panels from AU Optronics (AUO). It’s also said that, Apple likely to begin production of the the new 7.85-inch mini iPad at the end of the second quarter of 2012. Well,well, well, it’s all not over yet, because the “mini-iPad” still hasn’t been confirmed by Apple.
Here are few words about the 7-inch tablets, which was said by Steve Jobs;
“7-inch tablets are tweeners: too big to compete with a smartphone and too small to compete with the iPad,” competing manufacturers were struggling to meet the price point of the iPad, which starts at $500.
“These are among the reasons that the current crop of 7-inch tablets are going to be DOA — dead on arrival,”
So what you think, will Apple come with the 7.85-inch mini iPad in 2012?
