A new Panasonic Smartphone Arriving Europe in 2012
A consumer electronics giant, Panasonic has just announced a prototype of a smartphone, what they’re going to release globally in 2012. As Panasonic plan to get area in global smartphone market, it will brings its first smartphone to Europe. But unfortunately this handset is yet unnamed. This prototype features an ‘ultra-slim design’ and a quick measurement of this rendered prototype images suggests just 7.8mm thickness. So this Panasonic smartphone will slightly thicker than the Motorola RAZR. Rear panel of the phone is curved into a sort of D shape. While the front is more interesting than the rear. It’ll bring a 4.3-inch AMOLED touchscreen with qHD (organic light emitting diode) 960 x 540-pixels resolution and the bezel around it is rather thin too.
This unnamed Panasonic smartphone is expecting an Android platform, but the company didn’t say anything directly. Well it’s also expected that, the smartphone will likely run on the latest Android v4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich operating system and feature NFC. Interestingly this phone will be dust- and water-proof as well.
It’s said that, the smartphone will be released in the European market sometime in March 2012 and there will be more to follow it. It’s also reported that, the phone will be expanded globally later on. According to the press release, the company targets an 1.5 million sales in 2012 and 15 million phones in global market by 2016 including 9 millions for Europe, Asia, China, and the United States.
The head of Panasonic’s mobile division Toshinori Hoshi said that, “We are well aware of our powerful competitors,” “However, market shares are changing dramatically and if we launch into this fast-changing market, we believe we have a chance of a hit.”
