Android v2.3 Gingerbread is Currently Ruling Android Platform
Android developers have published the Android distribution chart regarding the relative number of active devices running a given version of the Android platform for the past two weeks. There are pie chart and table which is based on the number of Android devices that have accessed Android Market within a 14-day period ending on 3rd January 2012.

From the above chart and table we come to know that Android v2.3 Gingerbread is currently ruling Android platform with about 55.5 percent, while Android 2.2 Froyo stands behind Gingerbread with 30.4% share. This chart shows the Android 3.x Honeycomb currently runs on 3.3 percent of all Android devices. Here Android v1.5 Cupcake contributes about 0.6%, while Android 1.6 Donut has 1.1%, and the Android 2.1 Éclair still posses 8.5% share.
Well for the first time Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich reached such a share in this chart i.e. runs on about 0.6% Android devices. Exactly the Ice Cream Sandwich got 0.3% in the range between Android 4.0 to Android 4.0.2, while Android 4.0.3 has 0.3% share that’s under process for the Samsung Nexus S. In the coming weeks the share of Android Ice Cream Sandwich is expected to rise as all major OEMs are preparing to release the Ice Cream Sandwich upgrade for selected devices.
