Current News on MWC 2012 – Just Updated
We had a great mega consumer electronics show starting this year, obviously we got lots of amazing gadgets over there and now we should get ready for yet another event, which is the biggest wireless show of the year i.e. Mobile World Congress that will be held in Barcelona, Spain. This time all brands looking in a top gear but the world’s top Android vendor, Samsung seem to be calm. According to leaked news, Samsung won’t have any press conference at this year’s show, but we still looking forward to see some great devices from the smartphone leader.
LG and HTC are in a full speed in this Mobile World Congress and others including Nokia, Sony, Acer, ZTE, Huawei, and more brands will be there. LG will have a range of top end smartphones at its press conference including Optimus L-series (L3, L5, & L7), a couple of 3D smartphones (3D Cube & 3D MAX), one Quad core smartphone (4X HD), and a pair of large sized display smartphones (Vu & LTE Tag). No doubt HTC will be one of the top stars at this year’s MWC with its HTC Ville and HTC Edge/Endeavor. Well let’s see which brands coming with which devices, are they as per our expectations or not? Here are the most recent news from this year’s Mobile World Congress, what we will update by minute. Samsung:
Before MWC event it was said that, Samsung is not going to hold any press conference at this Mobile World Congress but Samsung has announced a range of devices at this event here as follows;
1- Samsung Galaxy Note 10.1
2- Samsung Galaxy Beam with built-in projector
3- Samsung Galaxy Tab 2 10.1 running on Android v4.0 ICS OS

Apple:
1- Apple is going to announce the iPad 3 on March 7
Nokia:
1- Nokia has announced an unusual camera designed smartphone with a 41 MP sensor, the PureView 808.
2- Nokia also officially announced two Lumia series smartphones, the Lumia 610 and Lumia 900, the global version
3- Nokia also announces three Asha series smartphones the Asha 302, 203 and 202.
LG
1- LG has announced a quad core smartphone the Optimus 4X HD
2- Two 3D smartphones; the Optimus 3D Max and 3D Cube
3- LG Optimus Vu and Optimus LTE Tag
4- Three new L-series smartphones (Optimus L7, Optimus L5, & Optimus L3)
HTC:
HTC announced four One series smartphones;

Huawei has announced two new world’s fastest smartphones, along with one tablet and few more smartphones.

Acer:
Acer has announced two new Android smartphones; Acer Liquid Glow and Acer CloudMobile.

Orange:
Orange will come with two HTC’s One series smartphones, the One X, One S and a Sony smartphone the Xperia U, as well as Intel also sell its Medfield processor based smartphones through Orange.
Others News at MWC 2012:
1- Corning Gorilla Glass 2 will be officially shipping in devices this April or May.
2- Fujitsu announced quad-core phone, ARROWS ES IS12F and Fujitsu F-12C Globetrotter Classic.
3- The beta version of Skype for Windows Phone is currently available.
4- Intel announced a couple of new smartphones with its Atom CPUs (one is LAVA XOLO X900).

Toshiba has announced a Tegra 3-based tablet, which is probably one of the most gorgeous slates at MWC 2012.
Intel has also announced few new devices yesterday. Intel has also planned to bring a smartphone to the Indian market, the new Lava XOLO X900, which has a large 4-inch capacitive touchscreen display and will be powered by a 1.6GHz Intel Medfield processor. In addition, it will also have a 400MHz graphics processor and runs on Android v2.3 Gingerbread OS. Most importantly, it will be the first smartphone in India market to have Intel technology.

ZTE has showed off two budget friendly smartphones, the ZTE Orbit (a Windows Phone handset) and ZTE Era (high end quad core handset).

Nokia’s CEO, Stephen Elop has announced the Nokia Asha series handsets; the Nokia Asha 202, 203, and 302. Nokia Asha 202 and Asha 203 are touchscreen phones. Nokia Asha 202 and Asha 203 will come with a gift package from EA games for just 75 Euros, but it originally cost you around 60 Euros, while the Nokia Asha 302 will cost you around 95 Euros. These Asha series smartphones will come to you in the next 6 weeks. Nokia also released two more Lumia Series smartphone there, Nokia Lumia 610 and Lumia 900. The global version, Nokia Lumia 900 will be coming to Canada this year, with the same LTE feature, while it will arriving other countries without LTE but with better HSPA+ GSM network.
Update at 1:38 AM – Nokia Lumia 610 will cost you around 189 Euros, while the non-LTE Lumia 900 is priced at 480 Euros. Nokai also released a camera based phone, the Nokia 808 Pureview which will be running on Symbian Belle OS and features an incredible 41 megapixels (38 MP effective with 7152 x 5368 pixels) Carl Zeiss lens camera with Xenon flash. This camera based smartphone will go on sale sometime May this year.

Samsung has presented two new Galaxy Tabs (Galaxy Tab 2), the Galaxy Tab 2.7 and Galaxy Tab 10.1 along with a built in projector phone, the Galaxy Beam.

HTC’s CEO, Peter Chou has introduced their new series, the HTC One. Then he told about the HTC Sense 4 and its new camera capability. He said the HTC Ones and new Sense 4 will have a new image sensor, called image sense. Apart from all, the HTC Sense 4 will also have a car mode for music that will work with almost all cars for playing music on the phone. Mr. Peter Chou also said that, the company will release the One series smartphones in April with 144 mobile operators.

The Sony Xperia P will have the brightest screen on the market i.e. a 4-inch display with WhiteMagic. The smartphone features NFC-enabled SmartTags and will pack a 5MP rear camera. It comes with an optional smart dock (named SmartDock) feature, so all you need to combine a wireless keyboard/mouse to convert it into a complete pseudo-computer. It will be available in three colors and will be start shipping sometime in mid-Q2. While the Xperia U will be powered by a dual core 1GHz processor and brings a 3.5-inch display along with the same 5 megapixels camera. It would be shipping in Q2 of this year with just two colors.

CMO of Sony Mobile Communications, “Steve Walker” said that, the Xperia Ion HD ready smartphone will be releasing outside the US sometime in summer 2012. The Xperia P and the Xperia U will be the two Sony Xperia Nxt series smartphones. There is no Windows Phone handset release today.

According to Huawei’s chairman, the D Quad is priced 15 percent to 20 percent more competitive than same class smartphone. It weighs approx 130grams and will come in two models having 1.2GHz and 1.5GHz processors. Huawei will target Chinese market first, and then they go for European markets. This smartphone will be priced around £400 without contract. Company also confirms that, they wish to sell 60 million plus smartphones this year. Huawei has also a quad core full HD tablet in the room with UMTS feature.

Huawei will come up with a very similar smartphone to the Apple’s iPhone 4S. They will also have an XL smartphone (D Quad XL) with a powerful 2500mAh battery. They again said that, they will upgrade the battery capacity up to 3000mAh in the same chassis. The D Quad XL is just 2mm thicker and offers 39 percent more battery life than the normal D Quad.

The Chinese company, Huawei has showed off its first quad core smartphone, the Ascend D1 Q at its press conference. This smartphone will feature a 1.5GHz quad core Huawei-built SoC processor and brings a 4.5-inch HD display. It will run on Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich OS. Other features; an 8 megapixels camera and boasts a 1800mAh battery. It will also feature an audio processing technology that cleanses the background noise.
