Airtel 4G LTE Services first in Kolkata, India
Congrats Indians, we have got the speed we want i.e. super fast 4G LTE network! Bharti Airtel is the first operator in India has released 4G service in Kolkata. Bharti Airtel is using TD-LTE technology to offer 4G network to its customers. Still are you in doubt about the 4G LTE release in India? There is no question of doubt, because Airtel official website is listed the 4G tariff for both post paid and prepaid customers along with few compatible devices, where its 4G plans starts from Rs. 999/-. For your kind information, Airtel won BWA license spectrum in Kolkata, Karnataka, Punjab and Maharashtra (excluding Mumbai) circles for Rs.33.1436 billion in 2010. In case you don’t know, 20 Mhz of Broadband Wireless Access spectrum in 2.3 Ghz frequency band allocated by Airtel for these four telecom circles. Now they have released the services for their Kolkata customers and also assured Bangalore people to come soon with 4G LTE services. With this super fast 4G TD-LTE network Airtel claims to offer download speed of up to 100 MBPS and upload speed of up to 40 Mbps. As a result, it will be able offer superfast access to High Definition (HD) video streaming, multiple chatting, instant uploading of photos and much more. Moreover the company also plans to release 4G services in other circles in India. But as per now, Airtel 4G LTE network has covered a wide range of Kolkata circle which is elaborated in this map.

These above plans are available for both prepaid and postpaid customers. As you can see in the above table, with Rs. 999/- Break free plan customer will 6GB of free quota usage, while Rs. 1,399/- Break free max will offers 9GB free quota usage, and Break free Ultra plan of Rs. 1999 will facilitate 18GB of free quota usage. Your speed will be throttled to 128 Kbps after the free data quota as per Fair Usage Policy.
Bharti Airtel has decided to offer some privileges to its first few customers. So, on the Rs.999/- postpaid plan, customers will get a money-back for a value equivalent to their one month’s rent for over first 6 months, thus they will get discount of Rs.167/ bill for 6 bills. While on Rs.1,399/- and Rs.1,999/- postpaid plans, customer will get a money-back for a value equivalent to their two month’s rent for the same first 6 months. So customers will get a discount of Rs.466/ bill for 6 bills in Rs.1399 plan, and get Rs.666 / bill for 6 bills in Rs.1999 plan.
As we said above, Airtel has also selected a couple of compatible devices to offers its 4G LTE network in Kolkata and Maharashtra. One is Airtel 4G Multi Mode Dongle which will cost you Rs. 7,999/-, and another is Airtel Indoor CPE with Wi-Fi that’s priced at Rs. 7750/-. It’s not a matter whether you’re a prepaid or postpaid customer but you will need a new SIM which is using an USIM module to avail the Airtel 4G LTE services.
