Sony is about to Release two new Entry-level Xperia Phones

We got news that Sony is about to release a couple of Xperia series entry-level smartphones, model named; Sony ST21i2 and ST21i. But according to the Indonesian Telecoms Regulatory body, the Sony ST21i2 will be called the Xperia Tipo Dual, while the Sony ST21i would be called the Xperia Tipo, which was previously rumored as “Tapioca”. The Regulatory body strongly claimed that this will be their retail names when they hit shelves in nearest future. Both the smartphones are entry level Xperia devices and expect to be targeted towards emerging markets. Well the only difference between these two Xperia smartphones is the Xperia Tipo Dual will be a dual SIM version of the Xperia Tipo.

Don’t be surprise, there are few specs of these devices have also been revealed before it officially announced. The Xperia series will have a 3.2-inch HVGA capacitive touchscreen display that will offer 320 x 480 pixels resolution and paired with Adreno 200 graphics processor for a better viewing experience. The smartphone will bring the Google’s current latest Android v4.0 (Ice Cream Sandwich) platform. It’ll come powered with a Qualcomm MSM7227 chipset plus a Snapdragon single-core processor that clocked at 800 MHz. The smartphone comes built with 512MB RAM and can expandable up to 32GB through a microSD card. The smartphone also comes equipped with various sensors like; Accelerometer, proximity, compass, etc.

It packs a 3 megapixels rear camera that features Geo-tagging and can captures still images at 2048 x 1536 pixels, while shoot videos at VGA resolution of 640 x 480 pixels, but there is no LED flash. This Xperia series comes supported with MP4/H.264/WMV video player as well as MP3/WMA/WAV/eAAC+ music player. The Sony Xperia Tipo will have a 1450mAh battery, but can’t say what will be for the dual SIM version.

The handset (Xperia Tipo) expect to work on GSM 850 / 900 / 1800 / 1900 2G network, and also support other connectivity options starting from GPRS, EDGE, TBD Radio, Wi-Fi 802.11 b/g/n, Wi-Fi hotspot, Bluetooth v2.1 with A2DP, microUSB v2.0 interface, etc. In addition, the handset supports GPS with A-GPS and compatible with Java via Java MIDP emulator. Obviously, it supports for all social networking integration, and features document viewer, Voice memo/dial, predictive text input, etc. According to previous rumor, this Xperia series will cost you around $260 USD (200 EUR) without contract.
